Stay Awake

So, we've watched Mary Poppins 1,000 times in the last year and the children love it. I sing the lullaby "Stay Awake" that Mary Poppins sings to the children in the movie. If you are not familiar with it, it goes like this:

Stay awake, don't rest your head.

Don't lie down upon your bed.

Though the moon drifts in the skies,

Stay awake, don't close your eyes.

Though the world is fast asleep,

Though your pillow 's soft and deep,

You're not sleepy, as you seem,

Stay awake, don't nod and dream,

Stay awake, don't nod and dream.

Sweet Caleb ALWAYS relaxes to this song. I pull it out almost every time and he just drifts away. (He is kind of a rascal that way, actually...consistently doing the opposite of what is requested at any given time....) Well, the other night, he tried to sing right along. His eyes we're rolling back and he just kept adding his little words in, matching mine, making known to me that he has it memorized. He loves to be sung to, but I don't remember him ever singing along before. It was a moment of littleness and sweetness and the fulfillingness of motherhood I hope I never forget. Love that kid!

I have started to sing to Parx..2 problems: I can't sing very well and 2nd I've come to realize that I don't have very many songs memorized!!! I sing anyways...make up songs and even my own words to current songs. He doesn't know the difference and LOVES it! His whole face lights up! If only I would have made a bigger effort to learn songs...=) Thanks for the cute post that made me reflect!

Yeah some updates! It's fun to hear how your family is doing. That is awesome about Caleb. I love when Amy sings along with us. Although now she just wants to sing while we listen to her. I'm sure she would listen if you sang to her, my voice isn't as nice as yours. :)

ummmm, you know Meridth Gimble??? She and her family came over to my house on Saturday for a spaghetti dinner...really like her. We are in the same ward, that's how we met. I'm guessing you know her from your mission? So fun. Love.

I love your updates, and love seeing all the words to that song. I love that Caleb can't quite make it through the song because he's so sleepy.:)
